Pink Saturday~YIPPEE

As with most of us, the weeks just seem to fly by. When it comes to post for Pink Saturday, many times I am left looking around wondering what to share with my blogger buddies.
I have been very busy with creating fall items for my shops on etsy and my website, but they are all in the fall colors. So, because I have moved on into the Christmas holidays, I have two of my new items for this week.
I know that this may not be the pink everyone is after, but for now, this will have to do. I promise to be a better pinkie in the future.
I created this sweet tassel that can hung from the tree or anywhere else you might enjoy a little holiday bling. I love the candy shop and also added a gingerbread man at the bow. Believe me, there is some pink in there. HA!

What could be tastier than a snowman cupcake??!! If this was indeed edible I bet he or she would taste sweet and delicious. I bought the cupcake ribbon to use for something for my grand daughter, but thought it may be perfect for this tassel. I do hope you have enjoyed my offering this week, even tho I know none of us is ready for Christmas yet. We are still having temps in the 105' s and above, so think how I feel!! :)

A Cottage Halloween?

Fall is not in the air here in the desert. We are still having daily temps in the triple digits. Altho we may be seeing 109 degrees during the day, it is cooling off at night.
With that being the case, it's easy to understand how hard it would be to get into the "autumn" mood for decorating. You really have to push yourself to make it all happen, unpack the boxes and to get motivated. Unless you go to the mountains, which is very do able (you can reach an elevation of over 6000 feet in less than 2 hours) you have to make yourself realize that fall is indeed on it's way.
I love the rich colors and all the hues of this most favorite season. I wait for months for it's beginning.
This is one of the shortest seasons, if not the shortest. It gets pushed out every year by Christmas, so lets all enjoy it, take in the cooler air, admire the changing colors, the leaves falling, fires in the fireplace and best of all, beautiful aromas coming from the oven.

As you probably know by now, I am not a cottage white person. I love color, but so many of my customers enjoy white. Hence, then faux, white, sugar cookie pumpkins. Very shabby and adorable too.
You won't gain weight with these, you won't rot you teeth either. No sugar, no fat and no calories. Just lots and lots of cottage goodness.

Marty's Fall Cloche Party AND Pink Saturday

I have this beautiful cloche sitting on my dining room table with a sweet mini pumpkin. I always make these pumpkins every year to use at every one's place setting. It's a sweet remembrance of a lovely holiday together.

The fabric for these pretty pumpkins can be any fall fabric you would choose to go with your table decor. The decorations at the top are so fun to use. I love to use a dried cinnamon stick for the stem.

This cute wire cloche is one of my favorites. I just love the hearts around the center. I placed a little scarecrow and pumpkin display inside.

Pumpkins and crows just seem to go together, don't they? Another wire cloche, but this one has a little bird on top.....love it!!

See, isn't he just the cutest thing you have ever seen?

When I bought this cloche, I had every intention of painting it white. What was I thinking??? So glad I left it alone.

Pink Saturday

As you know, plants in the desert are fried after a long, hot summer, but I did manage to come across these lovely oleander bushes and they are perfect for Beverly's Pink Saturday.

Both dark and lite pink varieties in this yard.

This plant brings lots of color this time of year and doesn't require a lot of water, which is a good thing if you don't get a lot of rain.

Just in case you are wondering what I have been up to this week, here she is. A frenchie tassel for a customer of mine. Ya just gotta love pink!!!

TUESDAY TREASURES

The theme this week for Shabbylaneshops Tuesday's Treasures is "Warm Country Kitchen." I have decided on this lovely set of towels for my offering today.

September 11 and Pink Saturday

This is a day of somber, a day to remember all that we lost. I am forgoing my regular pink post to honor those that lost their lives today. America is a country we should all be proud of.  God Bless America and all her fallen hero's.

I designed this creamy white tassel for a client and thought how appropriate to show and share an angel.
This day nine years ago, many angels went to God. I hope that each of us takes a minute to think about the sacrifice that was made and is made each day by those serving to keep us safe.

I have never met anyone that didn't love a sugar cookie nor Halloween. What can be better than bringing the two together??
This just keeps getting better and better, because these are faux. Yep, you heard right, fake. Made of wood, painted and decorated, these are just so cute. Better yet, they are pink!!

I am gone this weekend to visit my brother and his family in CA. I will visit you when I return on Monday. Until then, I wish each and everyone a wonderful Happy Labor Day and the most fabulous Pink Saturday.

Harvesting Pumpkins And A Scarecrow Too

We still have temperatures in the 100's and will until sometime around the end of next month. It's hard to wrap your head around fall when you are still in shorts and a tee shirt! That being said, I can't wait for the cooler temps and all the rich, fall colors autumn brings.
Each year I make these sweet 4" pumpkins to sell and also to put at each place setting of my Thanksgiving Day table. Not only do they brighten the table up and bring in lots of holiday color, they are also a lovely gift for my guests.

Pretty fall fabrics and lots of goodies at the top, each pumpkin is a little different from the next. The pretty leaf dish behind comes with the pumpkins I sell, I don't give these away, but rather, I use them on the table with nuts, dried fruits etc.

Some pumpkins have mini acorns and squashes, along with bead work like the one above. All have a piece of cinnamon stick for a stem.

Of course what would fall be without a scarecrow?? This little guy has been made into a holiday tassel. I love the Halloween ribbons and trims.

How could us girls resist such a cute face?! HA! All this and more can be found on my website, SOMEPLACE IN THYME. Pumpkins would be perfect for teachers gifts and for your holiday hostess gifts. Who wouldn't love a sweet tassel to display in their home.

Pink Saturday And A Tribute To Angels On Earth

THE RAIN

It was a busy morning, around 8:30 when an eldering gentleman about in his 80's
arrived to have stitiches removed from his thumb. He said he was in a hurry as he had
an appointment at 9:00 a.m.
I took his vital signs and had him take a seat, knowing it would be over an hour before
he would be seen. I saw him looking at his watch and decided since I was not busy with
another patient, I would evaluate his wound.  On exam, it was well healed, so I spoke with
one of the doctors, got the needed supplies to remove his sutures, and redress the wound.
While re-dressing his wound, I asked him if he had another doctors appt this morning as he was
in a hurry. He replied no, and that he needed to go to the nursing home to have breakfast with his
wife. I inquired as to her health and was told she had been there for quite a while, and that she was
a victum of Alzheimer's Disease. As we talked, I asked if she would be upset if he were late. He replied
that she no longer knew who he was and had not recognized him in over 5 years.
I was surprised and asked him, "and you still go even tho she hasn't recognized you in over 5 years?"
He smiled, patted my hand and said "she doesn't know me, but I still know who she is."
I had to hold back tears as he left, I had goose bumps on my arms, and thought, "this is the kind of
love I want in my life." True love is neither physical nor romantic. True love is an acceptance of all
that is, has been, will be and will not be.
The happiest people don't necessarily have the best of everything, they just make the best of everything
that they have.
"Life isn't about how to survive the storm, it's about how to dance in the rain."

Vintage Finds, Desserts And A Tutorial

While vacationing in Colorado last week, we were about to do some antiqueing. I came across these beautiful china dessert plates and am excited to show you what I did with them.

Using the glass candlesticks that I also found, I was able to make these very sweet pedestal display plates. Just think of all the wonderful uses for these. I would think they would make the perfect gifts too.

I love to use the glue above when gluing glass. Simply go around the rim of the candlestick with the glue and place your china plate where you would like it. Let dry and there you have something very pretty and usable. It's just that easy. Make sure all surfaces are really clean before using the glue.

I made some faux cookies to go with this plate with lots of gold rimming and yellow roses. I love it!!

Look how beautiful this is.

I made faux mini cakes for this gorgeous plate with all it's lovely pink roses. One cake is chocolate, one vanilla and the other lemon. Yummy good!!

Pink Saturday

Happy Pink Saturday to all my pinkie friends. We just got back tonight from a long day of driving. We spent the last week in beautiful Colorado with family and had the best time together.

Today is our wedding anniversary. My hubby and I have been married for 38 wonderful years. What a blessing this life together has been. I was lucky enough to catch this lovely desert, night sky on the way home. I hope you enjoy it.

PINK SATURDAY

Welcome to this weeks Pink Saturday. I am away from the computor this week and that is why this is posted so early. Please forgive me for not visiting, but I hope to make that up to you next week. Happy Pink Saturday Everyone.
These pictures of my garden are from last spring. As you can imagine when the heat is 110 degrees or higher, we have little to show. I await fall with a smile on my face.

MY FAVORITE SEASON IS ON IT'S WAY~YIPPEE

I have had enough of this heat and am ready for a little cooling off time. Here in the desert, fall really doesn't show it's color until after Thanksgiving. Yes, you heard right, AFTER Thanksgiving. As a matter of fact, we usually sit at the table in shorts and tee shirts. Now, if you want to go up into the mountains, that's another story altogether.

I have begun my jouney in my studio working on my fall creations and I am so happy. New colors, all rich and dark have taken over and they make me smile. They are the future, the near future.

Tables displays and tassels, oh, lots and lots of pretty tassels. Indian Corn, Pumpkins and even Scarecrows.

Lots more to come, but for now, this will have to do. It gives me hope that one day I can turn off the air conditioner.

ROOSTER PARTY and PINK SATURDAY TOO!

Oh, where to begin..... For as long as I can remember, I have been in love with roosters. Roosters of all colors and moods. Mean ones, quite ones, and the most noisy roosters of all time. It doesn't matter, I love you!! I guess I should explain that I was born and raised in the city. I never had a chance to own a rooster or to enjoy all the personalities they bring to your life. Maybe that is the mystique they hold for me, the wonderment of it all. Some people hate that they keep you up at all hours of the day and night. I think they lull you to sleep, just like church bells or the sound of a train. To me it's tranquility at it's best. So, for this I thank Barb from Barbs Good Life for throwing this wonderful rooster party. I can't wait to get out and see and the happy little guys that grace other participants homes and yards.

My son bought me the rooster in the first picture. How did he know?? The rooster above was a find at a local design store named "Poppy"s." They look so proud, don't they?!

Rooster lamps, I can't get enough of them. This one is in my kitchen.

The sweet ceramic rooster above is actually a candle holder. The lamp holds a little votive candle and is very pretty when lite.

Over my kitchen sink I have a sign that reads "kiss the cook" and as you can see, there is another cutie pie on the end.

Above my kitchen cabinets sits a couple of the little gems. One on a tin birdhouse and another which is a candle stick. I bought him when we were living in Germany. Made of wood and a favorite.

This wire bird may actually be a chicken, but for the purpose of this post, I made her a him. At least for the time being......is that bad of me??!! Shhhhh, I won't tell her if you don't.

He sits on my kitchen island and I not only love him, but also love the shade. It's chicken wire pattern with roosters every so often. The colors are burgundy and gold......pretty.

Because Pink Saturday is on......Saturday, I went ahead and combined the two parties. I hope you don't mind.

This week was a very hard one for us as our daughter has been in the hospital since last Sunday night. She came home yesterday, Wed and is doing very well. Turns out she has valley fever. At least she was diagnosed and now can mend. Prayers for her are appreciated.

I was able to finish this stocking for my website someplace in thyme and get it listed for this weeks post. If that had not happened, I would have been in trouble this week.
