I have been creating since I was a little girl. I am happy to say that having my own website has opened up a whole new world for me. Trying new mediums is a joy and sometimes a real eye opener. I sell what I create on etsy and my website, someplaceinthyme. If you have questions, please email me at cpeterson72@q.com. I welcome new blog friends and am honored if you find my little piece of heaven interesting enough to follow.

Happy Pink Saturday

Thank you Beverly from how sweet the sound for making another Pink Saturday possible for all of us. Please be sure to visit as many pinkies as you can this week and pay a special visit to Tammi of visions of vintage, that is my link for this week.

What better way to spend a day than lunching and shopping with your favorite people in the whole world??!! My two grand daughters shared this day with me and we had so much fun together. Notice Allies pink flip-flops and her pretty pink skirt. Her sister Jenna was dressed just like her and they could not have been cuter. Lots of pretty pink blooms too.

Have a wonderful week my pink friends. I look forward to hearing and seeing what you have been up to.

HAS THIS EVER HAPPENED TO YOU?

You know it happens, you go out to lunch and then off to your favorite home decor shop. I never intended to buy much, just wanted to see what was out there for fall. I was with my mother, my sweet daughter in law, Amber and my two adorable grand-daughters, Allie and Jenna. While cruising the store, I saw a gorgeous floral arrangement that would be perfect for my dining room table. The height was perfect, the colors were beautiful and I fell in love. So, up to the counter we go. Well, not quite. This perfect arrangement was on a metal pedestal that looked like it had had one to many last night. Somehow it had gotten bent. It wasn't a bad bend, but it was enough of one that I could no longer consider it mine. It would not have mattered how much was taken off the price, my eyes would have gone to the flaw every time I gazed at it. I was so dissapointed, but not defeated. Off I went in search of something else.......
This is what is on my table now. An antique tool box that I filled with assorted greenery. You would never know that I was a floral designer by looking at this, would you? I should be ashamed, but it's more being lazy than anything else. I love the tool box and it's done it's job very well. I also love the color green. Not my favorite, but I do love the freshness it brings to a room.
My table seats 10 very comfortably, so the arrangement needs to be BIG.

As I searched, this is what I found. I loved it. I always enjoyed working with fruits and veggies along side of blooms. The texture they add and the color is unbelievable. I thought this would work just fine. It was lower and longer, but the colors were wonderful and I love the fruits and veggies.

Just look at those reds!! Artichokes and pomagrantes, apples and grapes.

Deep and rich, with ambers and greens. Okra and fall leaves with lovely blooms.

OK, this was not what I thought it would be. I still love the arrangement, but it ended up being waaaaaaaay to small for my table. I have no idea what I was thinking, I guess I wasn't really thinking at all.

This lovely arrangement ended up not on my dining room table, but is perfect for my kitchen table. All was not lost afterall.

I now don't leave the house without measurements, just in case. I did however come out the winner on this. I not only have a beautiful arrangement for my kitchen table, I still get to shop for one for the dining room. My motto now is to be prepared, because even tho you may not think you need something, you just never know. I will let you know what I come up with: to be continued.....

Happy Pink Saturday & A Sad Farewell

Happy Pink Saturday everyone, and a huge thankyou to Beverly of how sweet the sound for making pink saturday possible. My special blog link today is Sue from collect in Texas gal. Please be sure to stop by and give her a visit today.
With the end of summer in sight, and the fall season fast approaching, I am about to say a sad goodbye to my summer dishes. Tulips and other blooms are going away until they re-emerge next spring, just in time for Easter. Gone will be the pretty pastels and out come the fall leaves and darker colors. I have to admit, I am very excited for the fall season.
I have announced the winner of my pincushion at the end of this post. Thankyou everyone for leaving me such wonderful comments and good luck next month.

Aren't these just so cute. In case you were wondering, these dishes are from Villeroy and Bach and the pattern is Canari. We bought them when we were living in Germany, I have no idea if they are available in the U.S.

These plates are so much fun to play with because of all the colors. Just about anything goes and they make a gorgeous Easter table.

You really can't have a bad day when you start out with a cup of something wonderful and see all the pretty blooms and gorgeous colors.

The lucky winner of this months giveaway is.......Jennifer from Maiden Shade. Congratulations Jennifer, please contact me with your address and I will sent this lovely pincushion to you. My next giveaway will be in October. Meanwhile, please don't forget to sign up for the Shabbylaneshops giveaway by clicking on the gadget at the top of my blog. This is for around $100.00 worth of gorgeous items and gift cert. donated by many of the vendors over at shabbylaneshops, including me.

Pink Saturday And A Tribute To Grandparents

While many little girls dream of getting married and having a family, I doubt that many think of being a grandmother or ever dream of that happening one day. Having said that, one of my very best friends called me yesterday to say that her baby girl had just given birth to a sweet baby girl of her own. She was now a grandmother!!! My husband and I have known Pat and Larry for over 15 years now. (I have no idea where the times goes) Our daughter used to babysit Katie, the new mother of Emma Laurette, weighing in at 7 lbs 4.6 ozs and 20 inches long. CONGRATULATIONS to Katie and Steve.
Being grandparents is like a "do over". A second chance at life and lots of fun. We don't have all the responsibilities, but instead, we get to have all the fun. No one ever told me just how much fun that would be. It gives new life and hope to all the great holidays, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter and all the days in between. The word spoiling does come to mind. I mentioned to Pat that her life as a grandmother is just beginning and holds so many great things to come, lots of secrets to be revealed and the making of some very special memories.
Our children were gifts given to us to cherish and to hold dear. Our grandchildren are icing on the cake, gifts given later in life to be enjoyed and loved. We are always parents, there when called upon and needed, always loving and being there when called to service. It's different with grandchildren, we are on the sidelines looking in, waiting to be invited, waiting to be involved. Lots and lots of love spilling over onto everyone, part of an extended family, what more could anyone ever want or need. The circle of life complete with all it's components, a gift of joy in a sweet little baby girl, looking so much like her mother, and if I might say, a lot like her grandmother too.

Thank you Beverly from How Sweet The Sound for making Pink Saturday possible. Please visit as many participants as possible this week and read what they have been up to. Happy Pink Saturday to all of you.

Rain Glorious Rain

If you have never visited or lived in the desert, you probably don't know that the average rainfall is only about 4 to 6 inches a year. This is why you hear the sun shines 352 days a year!! During the summer, rain usually occurs at night. This is due to the high temperatures during the day. Any moisture will evaporate during the high temps of the day. Our storms which will include thunder and lightening happen when the temps are cooler, after dark. This is why it may rain and we never see it.
This weekend we woke up to a wonderful storm that lasted for hours. Rain and lots of it fell and soaked our parched dry earth. The air smelled clean and fresh. The grass went from a yellow to a deep green in a matter of minutes, at least that is how it seemed to me. Is is not unusual for people to run to their windows to witness the clear liquid falling to earth. It's a celebration and reason to be happy. It is uncommon.
When I went on my bike ride today, I snapped some pictures of this event to share with you. Have you ever seen rain come down in streaks like this? The sky can be dark, pink, blue and shiny, yet there are rain streaks off in the distance. A beautiful site to see.

If you look closely you can see many colors in the sky.

Rain, sunshine and blue skies all at once.
Rain falling in streaks, it's beautiful to see. Like a drawing on paper.
It's hard to believe this is a park and not a pond. All the wildlife come out for a drink. Lots of birds taking baths and filling their tummys.
We don't often see the parks with so much water. There is grass under all of this.
Altho there are non here now, we often find ducks paddling away and enjoying themselves, it's such a strange site to see.
Sadly, in a couple of days, this will be a distant reminder of glorious rain. Until next time, we will be waiting.

WHERE IS THIS??

If you were not born in the United States of America, you probably have no idea how vast she is. If you visit Europe, then you know many of the countries there would fit into the state of TX with lots of room left over. We are a nation of grandness, diverse beauty offering the world just about any type of culture and enviornment one can think of. No matter where you live, take it all in, it's there just waiting to be explored. WHERE do YOU think this picture was taken?
It snows in winter and there is skiing too.

My guess is that you are thinking, Kentucky, Tenn, West VA, or some other great state of ours, if that is the case, you are wrong. Keep guessing......

This is the view as far as the eyes can see. The elevation is over 6,000 feet, miles and miles of mountains, trees and some lakes. If you guessed the great state of AZ you are right! Somehow tho, I doubt you knew it, how many would guess that this is just under 2 hours out of Phoenix??

Miles and miles of trees. When we think of the desert and AZ, we think of dirt, dry, cactus and the sun shining 352 days out of the year. We don't think of skiing, snow, water, trees and mountains. They are all here tho......surprise!!

No matter where we live, we are blessed with beauty. God Bless America!!
