Here is a close up of the fabric. Both sides are the same and it measures the size of a double bed. I have no idea what was used for the batting inside and no where on the outside of this beautiful quilt can anyone tell. If I have to make a guess, I would say some kind of animal hair, horse maybe? The one thing I do know is that it is heavy and would keep you very toasty on a frigid night. I wanted to hang this beauty on the wall over these two beds, but am so afraid of damaging the fabric or leaving holes, so for now.......
this is how I have it displayed and that will have to do. At least I can see and enjoy my prize every time I climb the stairs.
Now for what I have been doing this week, here is another sample of a tassel, pink and white with a watering can on top. So shabby and sweet. This can be found in my website HERE. I would ask that if you don't mind, could you please click on the link in the upper right hand side of my blog and vote for my shop on shabbylaneshops. Every vote would be so appreciated.
Now, I would love to thank Beverly from How Sweet The Sound for all her hard work to make this possible for us every week. Please visit as many blogs as you can to see what some very talented pinkies have been up to. You can simply just click here. I thank each and everyone of you for dropping in and leaving such nice comments, I love mail.

Love your quilt! How I would love to snuggle in one with all this exhaustion!
Happy Pink!

I love your quilt. Usually they are all pieced but this one looks different and quite unique. It's amazing that it has stayed in such excellent shape given its age and all. Good thing you spied it in your ML's garage and she was kind enough to let you have it.
I also love your watering can tassle.
Thanks for visiting my Pink Saturday Post. I love it when you do.
I'll be back to see you soon.
Sissie

I am quilt lover. You have a real treasure and keepsake with yours. I love it and the story behind it. You are very fortunate to have find it and bring it home. Thanks for sharing and visiting me.
The quilt is absolutely beautiful! Lucky you! ::Jill
Glad you got to rescue that great quilt. And it would look really nice over the beds. Maybe you could baste a 'pocket' down on end and slide it on a round closet pole. Just a quick thought.
And the newest tassel is just too sweet.
Thanks for stopping by my PS party and evening blessings to ya ;-)
I cast my vote!
What a beautiful quilt with a wonderful history.
Happy Pink Saturday!
What a beautiful quilt! You must be so proud t own something that has been in the family for so long! ANd your watering can is so special! Very beautiful! You're a very talented lady! I shall now be off to cast my vote! Happy Pink Saturday! : ) Sherri
Hi Lisa: I would guess that the inside of your quilt is an old wool blanket. Nothing was ever wasted so, when a blanket became worn out it would serve as batting for a quilt. It is a beauty for sure. You are lucky to have it. Blessings, Martha
Hi Char, Happy Pink Saturday (late) That is a belutiful quilt! I inherited hundreds of hand pieced quilt pieces and blocks, some with the pattern still attached and som unfinished quilt tops...OMG! SOmeday I want to finish one....ANd, that watering can tassle is adorable! BEcs
That old quilt made me wish I still had some crocheted blankets left which my grand mother made. O the folly of youth.
Your watering can is beautiful if not practical LOL
JJ
My goodness, what a wonderful and extravangant tassel. And I adore those quilts. A suggestion for hanging - a broom handle, hung off cup hooks - or your wonderful tassels) with the quilt draped over the broom handle. Nothing to drag the fabric!
As you read in my PS post, I am very saddened that I've had to put word verification back on due to my email address being hijacked on Friday, so I spent most of yesterday doing damage limitation. So I'm now moderating AND have word verification (which I will take off again in a week or so, once the hackers get the message). So I apologise for that.
Of the two, I still think the Moderate All Comments is the best (and the one I'll revert to), as I have still seen spam on blogs where the word verification is on but then the comment allowed to go straight to the blog.
An apologetic and belated Happy Pink Saturday on Sunday!
What a beautiful quilt and the watering can is just so very pretty. Very nice post. Terry
Oh my, that quilt is BEAUTIFUL! I can't believe it as been hidden away for so long! I am so glad it is in your hands now where it will be loved and appreciated!
Your tassel is so pretty!
Char, that quilt is like a gift from Heaven! My jaw dropped when I saw it and read the story behind it. You are one blessed girl. As if you'd ever part with it!
