Pink Saturday And Old Quilts

Hello and Happy Pink Saturday to all of my pinkie blogger buddies. What you are looking at is a very old quilt. A couple of years ago, my husband and I were visiting his mother in CO when I spied something of interest packed away in the garage. Of course I had to inquire about what it was, why it was and why it was being stored away in of all places, the garage. When she proceeded to pull out this gorgeous quilt, I about fell over. She told me my husbands grandmother had brought it over with her when she came from Norway. That was a very long time ago, believe me! My mother in law had no interest in the quilt, but certainly didn't want to throw it out either. I told her I would gladly take it home. She was happy and I was delighted. This quilt is in great condition, no wear marks, no holes and no damage of any kind. The only request I was given is to not give it away. No problem there, believe me!!

Here is a close up of the fabric. Both sides are the same and it measures the size of a double bed. I have no idea what was used for the batting inside and no where on the outside of this beautiful quilt can anyone tell. If I have to make a guess, I would say some kind of animal hair, horse maybe? The one thing I do know is that it is heavy and would keep you very toasty on a frigid night. I wanted to hang this beauty on the wall over these two beds, but am so afraid of damaging the fabric or leaving holes, so for now.......

this is how I have it displayed and that will have to do. At least I can see and enjoy my prize every time I climb the stairs.
Now for what I have been doing this week, here is another sample of a tassel, pink and white with a watering can on top. So shabby and sweet. This can be found in my website HERE. I would ask that if you don't mind, could you please click on the link in the upper right hand side of my blog and vote for my shop on shabbylaneshops. Every vote would be so appreciated.
Now, I would love to thank Beverly from How Sweet The Sound for all her hard work to make this possible for us every week. Please visit as many blogs as you can to see what some very talented pinkies have been up to. You can simply just click here. I thank each and everyone of you for dropping in and leaving such nice comments, I love mail.
Tin watering can has been given a shabby make over and pink rose decals. Lots of pink and white trims and ribbons, along with feathers. Too cute. Enjoy and see you next week!!

I love your quilt. Usually they are all pieced but this one looks different and quite unique. It's amazing that it has stayed in such excellent shape given its age and all. Good thing you spied it in your ML's garage and she was kind enough to let you have it.

I also love your watering can tassle.

Thanks for visiting my Pink Saturday Post. I love it when you do.
I'll be back to see you soon.

Glad you got to rescue that great quilt. And it would look really nice over the beds. Maybe you could baste a 'pocket' down on end and slide it on a round closet pole. Just a quick thought.
And the newest tassel is just too sweet.
Thanks for stopping by my PS party and evening blessings to ya ;-)

Hi Lisa: I would guess that the inside of your quilt is an old wool blanket. Nothing was ever wasted so, when a blanket became worn out it would serve as batting for a quilt. It is a beauty for sure. You are lucky to have it. Blessings, Martha

That old quilt made me wish I still had some crocheted blankets left which my grand mother made. O the folly of youth.
Your watering can is beautiful if not practical LOL

My goodness, what a wonderful and extravangant tassel. And I adore those quilts. A suggestion for hanging - a broom handle, hung off cup hooks - or your wonderful tassels) with the quilt draped over the broom handle. Nothing to drag the fabric!

As you read in my PS post, I am very saddened that I've had to put word verification back on due to my email address being hijacked on Friday, so I spent most of yesterday doing damage limitation. So I'm now moderating AND have word verification (which I will take off again in a week or so, once the hackers get the message). So I apologise for that.

Of the two, I still think the Moderate All Comments is the best (and the one I'll revert to), as I have still seen spam on blogs where the word verification is on but then the comment allowed to go straight to the blog.

An apologetic and belated Happy Pink Saturday on Sunday!
