A little Bit About Me

My photo

Someplace in Thyme

I have been creating since I was a little girl. I am happy to say that having my own website has opened up a whole new world for me. Trying new mediums is a joy and sometimes a real eye opener. I sell what I create on etsy and my website, someplaceinthyme. If you have questions, please email me at cpeterson72@q.com. I welcome new blog friends and am honored if you find my little piece of heaven interesting enough to follow.

HAPPY PINK SATURDAY EVERYONE

Welcome to Pink Saturday, and lets give a big thankyou to Beverly from How Sweet The Sound for making this possible. Today I am taking you back into my garden for some floral viewing. The summer heat is beginning to creep in and so I don't know how much longer I will be able to enjoy these blooms. Please enjoy

Just look at that!
Perfect in all it's beauty.
Even red needs some credit too, don't you think?
Here's a bouquet ready to go, just look at the pink.

Just a touch of pink, but look at the petal count...You can't have enough roses, can you?

You should smell these!!!
Honeysuckle over a trellis. Sorry about the potting soil in the back, been busy and didn't clean up, not very Pink Saturday of me. :)
Southern Honeysuckle....oh my, they don't bloom for long in this heat, but you should know I am out smelling them several times a day when they do.

You can smell this Jasmine all through my house, so sweet and heavenly.

Geraniums are always great for a little color just about anywhere. These are in a statuary basket on my front porch.
A pretty orange hybiscus.......
I don't think you can get much brighter pink than this. So pretty

Just look at the colors in the middle of this one! WOW!!

Bet you didn't know there was a desert hybiscus flower!

Beautiful Yellow desert Bird of Paradise.......I love yellow, did I mention that?!

PINK SATURDAY: IN SEARCH OF SOMETHING PINK

I have to begin by confessing that I am a "pink" fraud. Yep, you heard me right....yellow is my favorite color and has been my whole life. Please don't get me wrong, I really like the color pink, but I don't have it in my home. This week was very hard for me, because I had no idea what to post for Pink Saturday. I decided to make a game of it and this is what I did. I wrote all the rooms of my home on a piece of paper and drew one out. That was going to be the room I looked in for pink, something pink, anything pink!!! The lucky room?? THE DINING ROOM! OH MY!!

Before we start, lets say THANKYOU to Beverly from How Sweet The Sound for making all this fun possible. I also want to say that I hope this finds Beverly's mother on the mend and doing better than ever. Lets begin:

Lets begin the hunt for pink, but I don't think it will be easy......lets go!

Well, this won't count because it sits outside the dining room. I didn't plan this very well did I?

There is some pink in this floral arrangement sitting on my sideboard.....what else can we find?

A tiny bit of pink hand painted on an old board hanging in the dining room.

I guess I must be desparate, I brought this in from the bedroom and placed it on the buffet......sorry for the confusion, I admit, I panicked......anyway, this is a cute pincushion made from an old baby shoe that I received for a swap, just too cute, don't you think?

Oh Look, this might work.....

Here's a close up of the color, I think I will count this as pink, even tho it may be more of a raspberry pink.

No pink here, but I do see something else that needs to be polished!! What was I thinking?

I love antique high chairs and raggedy dolls. I think there may be some pink here, but I have to admit, you really have to look.

Looking across the room, nothing pink stands out, we need to move in closer.

I spy some pink over here. I never realized how hard pink is to find in my home. Maybe I should go shopping?!

I think this looks pink.......

Copper always takes on a pink hue once is freshly polished and this fish poacher is no acception. Will it count? I think so.

I found some!! These floral candlesticks!! Yippee

How about on this side table lamp.....any pink there? Maybe if we could lighten up the red, I could call it pink?

My husbands childhood teddy sits in this antique high chair in the corner of the dining room, do you see any pink here? Keep looking......... Poor Cinnamon Bear, he only has one eye, he was very well loved, don't ya think?

I cross-stitched this little swag for the high chair years ago, there is some pink, do you see it?!!

This is my dining table, do you see any pink there? Oh pretty please, let there be some pink.

This sits in the center of my table. I guess you could say this is dark pink? Who am I kidding, but it is burgandy, so it is from the pink family.....isn't it?? Please say yes.

To look at this room, you just wouldn't think there was a "pink" lover waiting to break out. I think I have fooled myself, she is in there and all I have to do is let her out! Oh boy, but don't tell my husband what is about to happen, it'll be our secret!!

Spring Cleaning Continues

This is one of our guest rooms. It's the only one with two beds in it. Spring cleaning was completed here before Easter because we had family visit for the weekend. I think I am well on my way to getting the job done. Summer will be here before we know it. I thought I would share this room with you now that it is almost complete. I do have an antique quilt that will be hung over the beds. I have not hung it yet, because I want to make sure I don't damage the cloth. I'm still researching the best way to display it.
Doesn't everyone need a pair of Dutch shoes?

I found these lamps at Home Goods. I thought they went well with the beds.

This could be your bed.
Another piece of my polish pottery, a mini childs size tea pot and warmer.

The large window has wooden blinds, but needed some color. My favorite is yellow, so I made this. I think it turned out alright, bright and sunny.

I made a window seat and loaded the sides with some of my pillow collection. I have gotten most of them from ebay.

I just love pillows, don't you?!

Some more pillows I have collected.

A few more collections and of course, our sweet grand-daughter when she was a baby. She is now 3 years old. Where has the time gone? I guess that means I am 3 years older also?!

Sometimes you just need a quiet place to relax and sit awhile. The picnic basket to the right of the rocker was a great find from an antique store in Maryland. I not only weave baskets, but I love to collect them as well. Does it ever end?? I don't think so :-)

Would you like a comfortable rocking chair to set in and purhaps read a good book? The pillow is a find on ebay.

I don't know anyone who doesn't like quilts and these are just a few of mine. You never know, staying with me in the desert, you just might need one.

These are some of my husbands baby clothes. Boy have things changed since then. The little yellow shirt on the left has wool in it and unfortunatly also some holes due to moth damage. I also have blankets and some overalls of his, I change these out from time to time.

Just a few of the wooden boxes I have collected thru the years. The little on the bottom right is a crank music box given to me by my husband many years ago. The top middle is a jewelry box from Italy and most of the others are Polish. The dresser scarf they are sitting on was from my mother-in-law.

I used to be in several basket swaps and this is one that I received. The pink dogwoods on the inside bottom are handpainted. What a lovely keepsake.
