Have You Ever Remodeled?

For any of you that have done a home remodel, you are probably laughing at me right now, but this is a scary thing to do. To have someone come in and take apart not only your door, but what seems like half the walls too.
We bought our home almost 8 years ago, new. It had the standard, run of the mill sliding glass doors. After all this time, we felt it was time to change. That in and of it's shelf was a challenge. At first, I wanted French Doors. I was set on that, the kind that have screens and windows on the sides of the doors.
When the salesperson asked me which way I wanted the door to open, I must have looked at him like he had grown another eye!!
What do you mean which way??? He asked me, inside or out....HUH!!??
Inside would not work because the door would swing into a vintage pew bench we picked up in England.
Outside wouldn't work because the patio table is on the left hand side of the doors. I would have to step out, close the door and then proceed...waaay too much work there.
I thought and thought about this question. I thought about it for literally months. Nothing was getting done.
I finally said, "french doors are not for me." I changed my mind completely, and never looked back.
Instead of the french doors, we got beautiful maple wood Andersen sliding doors. It was the right decision for our lifestyle. The right choice had been made.
Now on with the work, and I might add, the scary part.

Having someone come in and tear apart your wall moldings is a bit scary. This is what the inside looks like. I suppose if I use my imagination, it could be a lot worse. I try not to think about it.
We are held up a couple of days waiting for the security company to come in and reset the sensors......so, I look at this every day.......

Our home is stucco, so what you see on the right hand side of this photo, is what the end result needs to look like. Mr. Stucco man will be here tomorrow so I am keeping my fingers crossed.

I might be able to weave a beautiful basket, but I am completely out of my element with this. I can only hope there is a lot of talent in the fingers and hands of the stucco guy!! Faith Char, you just gotta have faith.

I am hoping you will not be able to tell that any work was done to the outside wall. We will see, and I will be sure to keep you posted on the progress.....new baseboards are next. Yikes!!
