I knew this was going to be fun the minute we pulled into the parking lot. The first thing I saw was this gorgeous plant from Africa. It's ten years old and had a price tag of $400.00 on it. Notice the root system? Not much there, but oh were the blooms beautiful.
Next, we headed for the newest greenhouses to have a look inside.
So much to choose from, so much to see.
You are so cute, what to come home with me? You would add lots of color to my yard!
The temperature was in the 100's the day we visited, so we walked around a little but the sales help drives you around in a golf cart from greenhouse to greenhouse.
When the cactus are propagated, they are cut on an angle so that the moisture or water does not sit on the flesh and cause rot. The piece that was cut off is left in the open until the fleshy part is dry, then it's planted in a special soil made for growing cactus. Lots of sand, rock and a rich soil.
I am going to end right here, this is to be continued, but there is only so much one person can take in one blog post!! HA! I have a few more pictures and some lovely Mexican style pots to share, but I will wait and put that post up later this week. I hope you have enjoyed your tour through a cactus farm with me.
Thanks so much sweet Beverly from How Sweet The Sound, for putting this week and every week together for us pinkie bloggers.

Hi Char...how fun does this look? What a great destination!
Thank you for sharing your pretty photos...have a sweet pink Saturday..xo Tami
I would have enjoyed looking around there with you. In Texas we are lucky to get anything to live.
We were amazed at some of the flowering cacti when we were there. I got a snap of one with gorgeous pinks on it. Wish I'd have seen the florals on them. So interesting a plant, they are.
Have a lovely weekend, sweet friend.

So sweet, Char. I'm so glad you can do things with your mom.
We have lots of cactus here. Probably because Robin's parents live in Phoenix.
Happy Pink Saturday.
Hello Char,
What fun that would have been and you right, the blooms are lovely! Happy Pink Saturday weekend.
Blessings,
Sandi
Hi Char, I have enjoyed reading your blog tonight from the visit to the cactus farm to spending time at the zoo with three very special little people. Your grandbabies are so cute and I bet wrap grandma around their little finger. I am spending some much needed me time tonight. Have a wonderful weekend. Your Missouri Friend.
What an amazing place to visit, I have never seen so many cacti! And I loved the colorful dog statue too. Thanks for sharing and have a great weekend, Nan
Amazing place! Great pictures.Love the dog statue. Thanks for sharing:)
Hope to see you on my blog:)
HPS!
Hi Char-How cool the cati farm is, a little pun since it was 100 degress. Here in Buffalo they would have to be an indoor houseplant, but I think you live in CA, so are you purchasing for inside or will they love outside year round? I visited out botantical gardens this winter and saw some really interesting ones. I used to babysit as a teenager for a lady who had a small cati greenhouse and she would to to crafts fairs to sell them also.
Wow all those beautiful plants. So many I never I saw before. Happy pink Saturday
So many bloomin' cacti - who knew?! Happy PS.
Love your post! I love cactus plants. My grandmother lives in south Texas and has a "cactus garden." The blossoms cactus plants have are so gorgeous and unique to their own plant. Thanks for posting.
Hi Char, I am so glad to hear from you. And very glad you like my tag. I was leary about joining this swap with all the "pros' involved, and me being a newbe at this. I have not seen my tags yet as I had them sent to my home in Florida, and I am in PA. Have to wait till Sept. :( I could not find an email addy for you so I just posted here. Love your blog!
thanks Donna
I love the deep pink color of cactus flowers. My husband actually eats the cactus pears from the flat leaf cactus --it is a deep scarlet color inside.
This greenhouse looks like a wonderful place for cactus lovers to shop.
Happy Pink Saturday!
Hi, Char....I enjoyed looking at your tour of a catcus farm...sooo many
beautiful and unusual plants...I would
not know where to begin to choose any thing!!!!
I bet they grow great in your area. My flowers have all just about burned up in our Louisiana heat..100 degrees lots of days. I KNOW it was not always THIS hot in the summer time!!
I should just buy catcus, too, as that is about the only planta that are surviving!!
Thanks for sharing your trip and I will be checking during the week for further pictures!
Stay COOL!!!! Hugs, Francy

Wow, I rarely get a chance to see cactus growing at a nursery... neat info and view! Amazing how they look but yet grow a pretty flower.
Char, I have received one of your bird tags from Karla's swap. Thank you so much! Love the bird paper and postale stamps! Your blog is very beautiful. How in the WORLD did you get that snow to fall on your pictures? Take care, Julie Jones www.juliejayne.blogspot.com
Hi Char, Happy late PS! Loved the visit to that gigantic cactus farm but I have to admit, I am not a big cactus person. My son, knowing this and the prankster that he is, gave me a very large cactus for Mother's Day a couple of years ago. LOL.....Have a great week. xo
