Flowers Of Puerto Viarta For Pink Saturday

I have missed the last couple of Pink Saturday's because I was away on vacation in Puerto Viarta, Mexico. I want to thank all that came by and left me such sweet comments. I had the best time just laying on the beach and soaking up all the local beauty.
I was able to take many pictures of the flowers around me, but sadly missed many. You just can't count on getting pictures when you are riding around in a taxi. HA! Somehow, it just doesn't work out the way you might wish it to.

Because the weather is tropical, there are lots of hibiscus in all colors and vary from smaller blooms to very large blooms. I thought this one would be perfect to show off for today. Love the darker insides.

The way the white of the center radiates outward was fascinating to me.

I want a pot like this on my patio. We grow lots of bougainvillea's in the desert, they are perfect for our weather and can with stand the heat of summer.

Pretty blooms and a plant that pretty much grows all year long.

This would make a statement! What an entrance into the yard.

Tropical weather, tropical flowers. When I worked in a florist we used to charge $6.00 for one stem of ginger. Wow.

We could get $25.00 for one stem of Heliconias.

Tropical leaves are a must for a tropical arrangement. Love the colors of this plant. Can you imagine awakening to something so beautiful each and every day?

I Just Got Back From Puerto Viarta

If you have been wondering where I have been the last two weeks, I have been having fun in Puerto Viarta, Mexico. And just in case you have not been wondering where I have been, now you know, or maybe you don't care, but I am back and ready to share the first post of many pictures.
Look closely and you will see coconuts hanging from the palm trees above. Just too pretty for words.

There are eight pools on the grounds and the grounds are beautiful as you can see from the above picture.
Coming from the desert, the green was a very welcome scene.

If you hit the season just right, you can catch the men climbing the coconut trees and cutting the fruit down. They climb up barefoot and use ropes. The fruit comes down in bunches.

One complex of many where we stayed. We got lucky this trip and were on the beach. We kept the door open and could hear the surf all night. What a wonderful way to sleep.

This was a very relaxing place, beautiful flowers that I will be showing tomorrow for Pink Saturday.

I have seen the workers take stems from hibiscus, roses and other plants and just stick them in dirt to grow. Talk about having a green thumb. I wish it was that easy for me!!
I just love a place where you can't jog. Now that's for me.

Paper Eggs And Pink Saturday

This trio of eggs is just so pretty, I almost didn't list them for sale on my website. I have never seen hydrangea paper eggs before this year. That's right, these are decorated with paper. One pink, one blue with pink and the third is a beautiful lavender.

The pink egg is special because.....it's Pink Saturday and time to celebrate all our pinkness!
These eggs have been blinged up with some sparkle too. So very delicate and just beautiful.

Lots of yummy goodness going on here. I added bows to each one and also handmade paper roses. Romantic and perfect for spring decorating.

Cottage Garden Party

Etsy Cottage is having a garden party and so it's time to show some of what's growing in your gardens.
I don't have much yet, but it's spring in the desert and the plants are coming alive once again with their beauty.
This is a climbing rose and if I remember correctly, her name is Jacob's Ladder. Smells very sweet and I love the orange, yellow and pink blossoms.

After a few days the color changes to this pretty pink. Yes, these are the same roses as the first picture. Amazing huh?

I also have some fresh strawberries beginning. I think I had better go get these and eat them before some critter thinks they are there for them.....:)

Would you like a tangelo? They are very good!!

This is a miniature pomegranate bush. If you look closely, you can see the fruit beginning to form.

Check out the top of the flower, and you will see the beginning of the baby pomegranate.

Do you enjoy the sweet smell of citrus? These blossoms are from a Meyer Lemon Tree. My yard smells like heaven right now.
AZ has many citrus groves and just driving down the streets this time of year, you can smell all the sweetness that nature has to offer.

Do you like tomatoes? I have decided to grow several varieties this year, but this plant is the only one with babies right now.

My husband brought home a pink shamrock plant for me in celebration of St. Patty's Day. I have never had a pink one before and this morning the blooms were beautiful. I thought this would make a wonderful share.

Spring Is Here And So Is Pink Saturday

Spring has hit the desert and the temps this week have been in the 80's! The plants are beginning to bloom and there are lots of buds sprouting on just about everything. I was excited to see the blossoms on one of my two nectarine trees this week. Come on over little bees and do your jobs, mama wants lots of fruit this year.

Aren't the flowers just so delicate and pretty? Too bad they have no scent.

If I were lucky enough to have each flower pollinated, I would be in nectarine heaven.

Yep, I have some pink roses to show you also. These are in a pot, but they are gorgeous none the less. Smell so good too.

Aren't they just so pretty? I really didn't realize how much I have missed the plants in my yard this year. I am getting excited to see so much more. Come on spring!!! I am hanging up the welcome sign.

We Are Blessed.......And Heaven Fills The Air

You can walk outside your back door and pick a fresh tangelo right off the tree!!

Yep, they are just hanging there, waiting for some lucky person to come along and snatch one up...or maybe two.

Just look at the gorgeous color. Wow!! And it tastes just as good as it looks.
If you are not a tangelo kind of gal, how about some ruby red grapefruit??

We had a lot of fruit on the trees this year and it just keeps getting better and better. Lots of new growth too, but no blooms yet.

Citrus can withstand the heat of a desert summer. We are very fortunate in that regard and our reward is being able to go outside and pick some juicy and nutritional fruit.

Oranges, oh yeah, we have those too. These should have been picked by now, but the longer they stay on the tree, the sweeter they get.

If you look closely, you can see little white buds on the tree. I am hoping for lots of fruit this year. This orange tree is a juice orange and not as good for peeling and eating. Great fruit if you love orange juice or like to make a salad dressing using the juice of fruit.

Blooms on my Meyer lemon already, and a little welcome guest. I got ever so lucky when I was able to capture my friend here doing his thing. Ya just gotta love the bees. That gives me an idea, maybe I will create a sign that welcomes these little guys into my yard!

I wish I could share this sweet scent with you, right through the computer, smells like heaven.
If you are not familiar with the way citrus grows, just look at the bottom of this picture and you will see the beginnings of a new baby lemon.......where the green spot is......yep! that's it baby!!

Our friend is keeping busy and earning his keep. The air is filled with spring and I am so blessed. Thank you God above for giving my garden life, and for the fruit it brings.
