VALENTINE COOKIES AND PINK SATURDAY

I have shared the best sugar cookie recipe in the world with you before, but just in case you missed this, I wanted to repeat it. I hope you will give it a try, it's very good.
I decided to send my husband to work with Valentine cookies for the staff and thought this would be the perfect post for pink saturday as well. Thankyou so much Beverly from How Sweet The Sound for making pink saturday the success it is. Be sure to check out the other blogs for some wonderful posts.
2 cups butter or margarine, softened
1 8oz package cream cheese, softened
2 cups sugar
2 egg yolks
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
4 1/2 cups all purpose flour
Cream butter and cream cheese until flight and fluffy. Add sugar, egg yolks and vanilla. Mix well.
Add flour a little at a time, mix well.
Cover and chill 2 hours or until firm.

Roll out onto floured surface to 1/4" thickness. Cut into 3" shapes, place 1" apart on greased baking sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes or until set, not browned.

You can decorate the tops of your cookies if you like. I used cinnamon and peppermint sugar for these. Do this step before baking.
Cool 5 minutes, remove to wire racks to cool.

Frosting: Combine 1 1/2 cups confectioners sugar, 3 Tablespoons butter, 1 Tablespoons shortening, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract and 3 Tablespoons milk in a mixing bowl. Beat until smooth. Gradually add another 2 cups of confectioners sugar along with more milk as needed for desired consistency. Use food coloring if you wish to add some color to frosting. Yields approx. 7 dozen cookies.

I just love the little mini hearts, so sweet and yummy to eat too. But be careful, when you bake minis, it's so easy to eat lots of them.

This is a great gift of love for someone very lucky. Happy Pink Saturday to everyone and Happy Valentines Day too.

I appreciate each and every one of my blogging buddies and look forward to hearing your comments. Please try this recipe and let me know what you think.

It just doesn't get much better than this!! Be sure to check the post below and sign up for the Shabbylaneshops give a way.

Yummy, Yummy, Yummy, what can I say. Sugar cookies are one of my favorites. The kids love to decorate them with sprinkles, also. We love cutting them out. Of course, if you are like me you will eat a little of the cookie dough before they are baked. Thanks my friend for sharing.

So sorry that I missed you yesterday. It seemed like the day just ran away from me! But, with this being ♥Valentine's Day♥ what better time for me to stop by to see your Pink Saturday goodies.

It's been a long and dark winter up here near Canada so filling myself up with pink is my way on the weekend of chasing away the blues - not that blue isn't a nice color, too☺

I ♥ coming here. All the pink and all the girlie stuff just floods my brain and makes me want to do a happy dance right where I sit!

BTW, you had me the minute I read TWO CUPS OF BUTTER - YUM☺

Thanks so much for sharing. After all, isn't sharing one of life's greatest pleasures?

♫Happy Valentine's Day♫
