This is what is on my table now. An antique tool box that I filled with assorted greenery. You would never know that I was a floral designer by looking at this, would you? I should be ashamed, but it's more being lazy than anything else. I love the tool box and it's done it's job very well. I also love the color green. Not my favorite, but I do love the freshness it brings to a room.
My table seats 10 very comfortably, so the arrangement needs to be BIG.
As I searched, this is what I found. I loved it. I always enjoyed working with fruits and veggies along side of blooms. The texture they add and the color is unbelievable. I thought this would work just fine. It was lower and longer, but the colors were wonderful and I love the fruits and veggies.
Just look at those reds!! Artichokes and pomagrantes, apples and grapes.
Deep and rich, with ambers and greens. Okra and fall leaves with lovely blooms.
OK, this was not what I thought it would be. I still love the arrangement, but it ended up being waaaaaaaay to small for my table. I have no idea what I was thinking, I guess I wasn't really thinking at all.
This lovely arrangement ended up not on my dining room table, but is perfect for my kitchen table. All was not lost afterall.
I now don't leave the house without measurements, just in case. I did however come out the winner on this. I not only have a beautiful arrangement for my kitchen table, I still get to shop for one for the dining room. My motto now is to be prepared, because even tho you may not think you need something, you just never know. I will let you know what I come up with: to be continued.....

Well, I was thinking how lush and pretty those plants in the wooden box were on your table! Mine never look that good inside. If you decide you want to use that centerpiece (that's now too small) for the dining room, you could always set it on a bigger tray and decorate around it to make it look better on the bigger table. Just a thought!

I think the tool box is just perfect!

Oh my! I think the arrangements are just stunning! I even loved the whimsy of the toolbox! Sometimes we see things through harsher eyes when we make them ourselves but I can assure you that from the outside lookin in they are just beautiful! :)
Oooh! Char, I love the arrangement you wound up with even though it was too small for where you had planned to place it. The colors are so rich! I am glad you found a spot for it. Now, be sure and post with pictures when you get one for your larger table. Thank you so much for stopping by for a visit, my friend. Sending autumn blessings your way. Vicki p.s. It is actually starting to feel more like autumn. We are getting rain and cooler weather here today in Texas.
Such beautiful colors! No wonder you had to have it...the reds are gorgeous, and so perfect for fall. Glad you were able to move it to the kitchen...I'm sure it's as beautiful there as it would have been in the dining room. Looking forward to seeing more of your shopping "finds"!
God bless,
Mary
You could get the fruit and some fall leaves and stuff them into your arrangement and then take them out for winter!!!

HI!!!
I love the new centerpice!!! It is amazing to look at, you are right, just the perfect blend of colors!!!!
Now for that dining room table arrangement, I the daughter of a previous flower shop owner, who NEVER learned to arrange flowers, as I was to busy delivering flowers and doing all the paperwork!!!! On those long 36 straight hours before Valentines day, I did learn real fast how to arrange roses!!!!
I think I would keep the container int he dining room, just add some new fall foliage and maybe a few stems of fall flowers!!!!
what do you think ???
let us know
hugs,
jamie
That's new (atleast for me) - a toolbox as a planter and a centerpiece :-) I like how it looked in your dining table. And yes, the fruit and veggie basket is a beauty! Good thing you found a place for it after all.

The colors are breathtaking!! Now I know what I am gonna' do for my Fall centerpiece....
Have a Great Day!

Oh Char that new centerpeice is wonderful. Glad it works on your Kitchen table, but it could've worked on the dining room table too...just add gourds and pumpkins with fall leaves on either side....even some fresh fruits that match the ones in the arrangement coukd be added too.
Just a thought.

You didn't take a picture of the new dishes that you will be using for fall... I'm curious!

Oh, Char, all so pretty. I forgot you were a floral arranger. If I ever get my dining room table upstairs, I will have to take a pic. It is VERY rustic since it was made with reclaimed old floor boards and left unfinished. It is big and long and such a challenge.
Love your arrangements.
Hey my motto ids to buy first and figure out what to do with it later! hehe I hate looking for specific things I ALWAYS buy too much and never really get what I want. I do better to work with what I have. You did good and still get to go shopping!
Hugs, Lisa
Just beautiful, pomegranates are one of my favorites.
Hi there! Both arrangements are really nice and lush. Maybe you could continue to use the green plants in long box by simply adding some faux fruit, pumpkins, etc. to autumn it up a little. Just lay them inside among the plants or even clustered on table around box.
Enjoy your blog. Come check out my new when you have time...
