I have been creating since I was a little girl. I am happy to say that having my own website has opened up a whole new world for me. Trying new mediums is a joy and sometimes a real eye opener. I sell what I create on etsy and my website, someplaceinthyme. If you have questions, please email me at cpeterson72@q.com. I welcome new blog friends and am honored if you find my little piece of heaven interesting enough to follow.

Statuary, Cactus And Summer In The Desert

Around 12 years ago, my sister in law introduced me to a flea market in Galt, CA where they sold tons of statuary. I was hooked!!! Everyone should have an angel in their rose garden...so sweet and such a lovely child.
Most of us have bird baths and my garden is no exception. The birds need this water on our hot, hot triple digit days.

Doesn't everyone have an elephant in their yard?!

Maybe two?
Poolside is an alligator just waiting for a meal.....want to take a swim.....enter at your own risk!

I always wanted a rooster and concret is the best I can do for now.....sigh

See, there he is......just watching and waiting.

A lovely pair of birds, and they don't make a mess.

Aren't they just the cutest couple?

Spring brought this for me to gaze upon.....have you ever seen anything so beautiful.

This cactus was loaded with blooms. Aah....

A close up of the blessings mother nature gives us. I am blessed.

Another angel watching and keeping us safe. I hope you enjoyed seeing a bit of the craziness that goes on in our back yard.....I think I still have room for one more.

Pink Saturday AND A Tutorial On My Vintage Spindle Tassel

A very long time ago, I bought a large bag of vintage spindles. I was doing a lot of basket weaving and using them for handles and decoration within my baskets. I really don't weave much anymore, just around the holiday season such as Christmas and Easter for my grand children and for friends. Now, what do I do with all these wonderful spindles?? This is what I came up with and I wanted to share this with all of my blogging friends.
I have been using the spindles to keep my lace on, like the one above.
This is what the plain spindle looks like.
I primed and painted, then sealed using modge podge.

There is a hole at the top and this is where I pulled a piece of ribbon thru using a very long doll needle. You have to have a way to hang the tassel and so this is a necessary step. Tie a knot at the inside end or use a small dab of glue so the ribbon does not come out and is secure.

I am sorry if the ribbon is difficult to see. It's cream colored like the painted spindle, but it's there.

Beginning at the bottom of the spindle (the fattest part) begin adding fringes and ribbons, one layer at a time with a hot glue gun. You can make ribbon loops, or use straight pieces. This is all up to you and what you like. There are no rules, simply use what you have and be creative. Add as much or as little as you like.
I like to finish with something special like feathers, eyelash trim or paper roses like you see here. I also added roses at the top of the spindle.

Altho I did not do it here, I love to use beadwork too. These are so fun to make. I hope you try one, you will be hooked.

Look how sweet this looks hanging from a lamp. You can also hang them from keys, armoires, knobs, pegs and hooks. Let your imagination run wide, but make sure to have fun.
This tassel can be found on my website, Someplace in Thyme.
UPDATE: this tassel shown today is now SOLD.

I went thru my home and came up with some pretties that I have made and have on my website as well as my etsy under the name SomeplaceInTime. My etsy can be found on my sidebar. I hope you enjoy these pretty pinks. I have no blooms to share this week, it's getting hot here in the desert and so there is not much out there right now.

Love this baby buggy. Wish I had one like it, wouldn't that be fun?

I love tags and just couldn't resist the booties.....too cute.
I want to thank Beverly from How Sweet The Sound for doing this again. I love all of my pink Saturday friends and I love your comments too. I hope you have a great week and look forward to visiting everyone.

A Sweet Pillow Made From Something Special

A couple months ago I was at the Goodwill and came across a very small tablecloth. I couldn't resist the price, nor the cloth. I knew right away I could make some special with it. I must admit, I don't know what the fabric is, maybe a rayon? It didn't matter to me, I liked it and loved the creamy color.
I also came across some vintage linens and snagged those as well. I have made a sachet (which has sold) and two pillows. I now have no more of this wonderful fabric left. :(
This is the last pillow from this beautiful fabric. I embellished this pillow with handmade and store bought blooms, ribbons and faux pearls.
I think it's romantic with all the ribbons and bows. I also painted a sweet key and added that to the center. This and more can be found on my website Someplace In Thyme. I hope this post finds all of you doing well, that you are safe and happy, enjoying some great weather. Until later......

LULU KELLOGG~THANK YOU

This thank you is long overdue. Sometimes I have no idea where the time goes. You think, ok, tomorrow, I will do this tomorrow. Tomorrow comes and goes, leaving days and sometimes weeks in the past. But I have never forgotten. No, I have not forgotten the friendship, the love or the caring that was shown to me by LuLu just when I needed it most.
My husband comes in with the mail and says "there's a package for you." I think, I didn't order anything, what could it be. There's this wonderful box, just for me and me alone.
With a tender heart and lots of gratitude I proceed to open the box and take all the treasures out, one by one. Some are made by LuLu, some she carefully bought. I love them all. Everyone is so special and leaves my mouth wide open in surprise.

Just look at this adorable paper shoe. I wouldn't even know where to begin to create such loveliness. It's colorful and lots of fun. A sweet bird with jewel and feather attached to a clothespin that I can think of many uses for.

A faux candy bon-bon with a magnet. Wow!! Double Wow!!

A very sweet necklace. I like this as a necklace, but it would make a great bookmark or would be lovely hanging.

A very touching card, signed by LuLu herself. I am honored dear friend that you thought of me and gifted me with your generosity. Thank you so much. If you would like to see LuLu's beautiful talent at work, please visit her blog http://coastalsistersnews.blogspot.com/ to see what she has been up to, you will not be disappointed.

SEASHELLS BY THE SEASHORE

Having grown up in CA, I have collected and searched for seashells most of my life. If we ever go near the beach, you will find me poking thru the sand looking for these little gifts of the heart.
Now that I have more than I can possibly display: what do I do with these little gems? I decided to create some perfume bottles to sell on my website, someplaceinthyme using what else? my shells.

Now to be perfectly honest with you, I bought the pretty bottles with the shells already on the toppers. All the rest are from my collection. I added vintage and new laces, ribbons and blooms. I think I may have found a new passion. Altho I have shells that I can not part with and enjoy still today, I think I will offer many more projects to my friends.
I gave the front of this tall bottle a sweet seahorse. If you have a beach theme in the bedroom or bath, these would be perfect. I have one that I kept for myself and I filled it with tiny shells. It's perfect. Just think how pretty they would be filled with rose petals or lavender buds. Of course, you could leave them empty or fill with bath oil......Oooooh La La

So chic and just so beautiful too.

FEELING BLUE? THE COLOR THAT IS.........

Most of what I create for my website is in the pink tones. I think that must be because pink is the people's choice. Don't get me wrong, I like the color pink, but as you know by now, it's not my favorite......yellow is and has been my whole life. What's not to like, it's sunny, bright and cheerful, makes me ever so happy, like a warm puppy or a soft blanket.
Sooooo, that being said, I came across this heavenly beautiful child with blue ribbons in her hair, gorgeous eyes and a pretty dress. I had to make something special with her. Blue it was. This was a little welcome change for me. I love the dots and the stripes together.

Couldn't you just hold her precious face in your hands and love her? She looks like an angel. Blue is calming and clean. I don't know why I don't use this color more often. Maybe I will in the future, we'll see.

With some extra fabric I was able to create this sweet pincushion and I call this the blue teddy bears picnic.

Handmade roses and other blooms along with faux pearls and of course the star: a sweet teddy. These can be found on my website, someplace in thyme.
Please don't forget TUESDAY TREASURES on Shabbylaneshops. This week the theme is "The Vintage Kitchen." You can go to my site and see what I have to offer this week. Simply click on the shabbylane shops link and see what others are offering too. Thanks for stopping in, please be sure to leave comments, I love reading them and love followers too.
