A little Bit About Me

Someplace in Thyme

I have been creating since I was a little girl. I am happy to say that having my own website has opened up a whole new world for me. Trying new mediums is a joy and sometimes a real eye opener. I sell what I create on etsy and my website, someplaceinthyme. If you have questions, please email me at cpeterson72@q.com. I welcome new blog friends and am honored if you find my little piece of heaven interesting enough to follow.

Mon Petit Coeur Francaise Tutorial

On my business blog Someplace In Thyme2, I have been showing you some of the sweet things I have made using the french tissue paper I have found. I promised you a tutorial and so here it is. I hope you enjoy yourselves and find the time to create some fun things too.
As you can see from the hard cardboard heart above, this is the start. You can readily find this type of unfinished shape in just about any craft store. I love hearts and so this is what I will be showing you today.

The tissue paper I use is from 7 gypsies. This is very thin and can be cut or torn, depending on the look you are going for. I prefer to cut mine.
Using a sponge brush and some Modge Podge, brush some Modge Podge on the heart and place the tissue paper down. The above heart is the back. Just make sure to cover all the cardboard and the sides.
Let dry.

This is the front, and you can see I cut out selected paper areas that I wanted to use to showcase my theme.
After everything has dried, use the Modge Podge to cover the whole outside of your work, let dry and decorate.

I added some vintage lace and ribbon, along with pearls and roses to the top. I had a little tiny Eiffel Tower charm and thought that would be so cute, so I added it as well.

I think you could also use thin paper if you didn't like the idea of using tissue.
I will be making two more and selling them in sets of three, in my Etsy shop.
These would make adorable holiday ornaments and decorations for gift giving too. How sweet would they be covered in vintage sheet music paper or language paper?? I hope you try this and let me know what you think.

106 Degrees Won't Stop Us!!

Think 106 degrees will stop us? How about 112? No, not a chance. We will all run for the pool, and that is just what the grandchildren and adults did today!!
Just look at Jenna, my angel girl is 2 1/2 years old.

My big angel girl Allie, is 5 1/2 years old. She has the sweetest freckles!!! The heat doesn't bother her.

Your turn baby Reid.

Just chillin

Grandma's lovin those swim trunks. You are a star!

Last year we were swimming in April. This year the first swim was in June. Maybe we will have a short summer. It's getting hot out there, grab your suit and come on over!!

Winner Of My Pink Saturday Give A Way

Happy Pink Saturday Bloggerettes. I want to wish all of you a great week ahead and have a wonderfully pink weekend.
This is short and oh so sweet this week. I would like to announce the winner of my Pink Give A Way.
Drum roll please........
Grace from Pink In The City......Yeah Grace. Please contact me with your info and I will get this loveliness in the mail right away.

Thank you to everyone that participated. It's so hard to have one winner when you would love to have everyone be a winner.  For this very reason, I will be having another give a way in July.

Thanks Beverly from How Sweet The Sound for once again letting us celebrate "Pink". Please visit Beverly's blog to find the list of this weeks pinkies and to join in the fun.

Waste Not, Want Not

PJ's are something I have been making for my grandchildren for a few years now. Allie is my oldest and she is 5 years old. I started the Jammie's around the time she turned 2.
I have a great pattern for the tops and the bottoms, but found that following the measurements the pattern gave me for fabric was off.
Now, I will admit, it could (and probably was) me that was off, although I have been sewing since I was in high school and I am not telling how many decades that was. The point is, I know how to read a pattern.
After laying out the fabric and the pattern, I was short fabric. This is something that I don't find any fun. I have a choice of going back for more fabric, or trying to improvise using something that might match.
After this, I just began to buy several yards of what I wanted and no longer paid any attention to the suggested yardage......hence, WAAAAAY TO MUCH OF A GOOD THING.
Not wanting to waste all this sweet, cute, precious and adorable flannel, we are talking about flannel here, I decided to pull out the patterns and see what I could come up with.
Long pj's, short pj's, (it is summer, after all) and in between pj's. Don't laugh, haven't you ever seen capri Jammie's before? : )

I managed to get all of these made for Jenna, she's 2 years old and is Allies sister. I didn't have enough fabric for Allie, as the crotch is where I ran into trouble. Allies' larger size would not fit the fabric lengthwise and I didn't have enough left over to fold crosswise. I think there may be 8, yes 8 Jammie bottoms here!!
Oh Jenna, you lucky girl!!

I was able to squeeze these two pair out for Allie. The strawberry shortcake are long, but the cute kitties are a capri length.
Now, it doesn't stop there my fellow bloggers, oh no, not yet.
I also made 8 pair for my grand sons, Jack and Kyler. I can't show you those because they are already wearing them, BUT, I can show you what I made with the little extra I had after the Jammie's.

I cut out 6 inch squares and decided to make a rag quilt. Now, don't hold your breath for this, and don't get me wrong, the quilt WILL happen, but they may be in college before they get it. HA!!
Just goes to show you, waste not, want not, but beware, you create a lot more work for yourself in the end, but it is satisfying and I love to see the little ones wearing something grandma made with love.

Pink Saturday And My Give a Way

This week has flown by and caught me so unprepared. I know that many of us complain about how fast time goes, but I thought the older you got, the slower time is....NOT TRUE.!!
Our grand daughter Allie, had a dance recital and there my angel is, front and center. (I am so sorry for the bad pictures, but I wanted to share with you anyway.)

Oh Yeah Allie, you go girl!!!

Here is 5 year old Allie and her oh so cutie patootie sister, Jenna. Jenna is my littlest angel girl and is 3 years old. Notice the shoe on Jenna's left foot......way cute, now let's fix it. : )

While out driving, I came across this cactus in full bloom. Of course I stopped and was lucky enough to have my camera with me. I usually don't take the camera out, but I am happy I did this time.

Believe it or not, this smells just like an Easter lily, very light and sweet. As you can see, the bees love it too.

I made and listed this pretty vintage crystal shaker in my etsy shop this week. It had a silver plated top, and I gave her a make over with white paint and some lovely florals.

Thanks again Beverly for hosting the pinks this week. You can find the list of participants on Beverly's blog How Sweet The Sound. Please be sure to stop by and say hi.
If you haven't signed up for my GIVE A WAY, it's not too late, there is plenty of time. The give a way post is the one before this.
