Someplace in Thyme

I have been creating since I was a little girl. I am happy to say that having my own website has opened up a whole new world for me. Trying new mediums is a joy and sometimes a real eye opener. I sell what I create on etsy and my website, someplaceinthyme. If you have questions, please email me at cpeterson72@q.com. I welcome new blog friends and am honored if you find my little piece of heaven interesting enough to follow.

PINK SATURDAY~TASSELS~TAGS AND A BUNNY?

Come on pinkie bloggers, we have a lot to celebrate this week. I am bring my bunny friend pictured above. Notice how she is all dressed in her pink finery? I think she is ready to party and have a day on the town. What are we celebrating you ask??!! Why, it's Pink Saturday's 2nd birthday. Thank you Beverly for all the fun and the joy you bring into every one's life each week. Without you, we wouldn't not be here today. Please be sure to check out Beverly's blog at
How Sweet The Sound for the list of this week participants.
I think we need a cake to help us get in the mood, don't you think? How about this one, lots of pinks and flowers too.....
Maybe not.

Aw, perfect for a queen.....Queen Beverly, this one is for you. Love it. Happy Second Birthday Pink Saturday!!!

We could also use some pink tassels. I have some to show you from days past. Love pink and brown together.

A flower pot, great start for the summer season. This also has bead work. I remember this tassel being so fun to make.

I made one like this for my grand daughters room. So soft and sweet.

Eyelash trim and feathers. You just have to love pink feathers.

For all the little princess's out there, this is for you! Very chic indeed.

Pink birds with pink jewels for eyes, what's not to love about that??!!

Last but surely not least, Tres Paris for all around shabbiness and style. I hope you have enjoyed your pink Saturday journey with me this week. I love comments and followers, so don't be shy. Make sure you visit as many pinkie blogs as you can this week. Thank you so much for stopping by and have a Happy Pink Saturday and 2nd Birthday.

SEASHELLS BY THE SEASHORE

Having grown up in CA, I have collected and searched for seashells most of my life. If we ever go near the beach, you will find me poking thru the sand looking for these little gifts of the heart.
Now that I have more than I can possibly display: what do I do with these little gems? I decided to create some perfume bottles to sell on my website, someplaceinthyme using what else? my shells.

Now to be perfectly honest with you, I bought the pretty bottles with the shells already on the toppers. All the rest are from my collection. I added vintage and new laces, ribbons and blooms. I think I may have found a new passion. Altho I have shells that I can not part with and enjoy still today, I think I will offer many more projects to my friends.
I gave the front of this tall bottle a sweet seahorse. If you have a beach theme in the bedroom or bath, these would be perfect. I have one that I kept for myself and I filled it with tiny shells. It's perfect. Just think how pretty they would be filled with rose petals or lavender buds. Of course, you could leave them empty or fill with bath oil......Oooooh La La

So chic and just so beautiful too.

FEELING BLUE? THE COLOR THAT IS.........

Most of what I create for my website is in the pink tones. I think that must be because pink is the people's choice. Don't get me wrong, I like the color pink, but as you know by now, it's not my favorite......yellow is and has been my whole life. What's not to like, it's sunny, bright and cheerful, makes me ever so happy, like a warm puppy or a soft blanket.
Sooooo, that being said, I came across this heavenly beautiful child with blue ribbons in her hair, gorgeous eyes and a pretty dress. I had to make something special with her. Blue it was. This was a little welcome change for me. I love the dots and the stripes together.

Couldn't you just hold her precious face in your hands and love her? She looks like an angel. Blue is calming and clean. I don't know why I don't use this color more often. Maybe I will in the future, we'll see.

With some extra fabric I was able to create this sweet pincushion and I call this the blue teddy bears picnic.

Handmade roses and other blooms along with faux pearls and of course the star: a sweet teddy. These can be found on my website, someplace in thyme.
Please don't forget TUESDAY TREASURES on Shabbylaneshops. This week the theme is "The Vintage Kitchen." You can go to my site and see what I have to offer this week. Simply click on the shabbylane shops link and see what others are offering too. Thanks for stopping in, please be sure to leave comments, I love reading them and love followers too.

PINK SATURDAY FUN

It's that wonderful time of the week when we all get to visit each other and share all sorts of beautiful pink things. I love this time of week. The above picture shows you some of the items that I have on my website. As you can see, there is a lot of our favorite color "pink" in there.
Because the summer is just about upon us here in the desert, I thought that I would share some blooms from my garden with you. A two toned rose, one of my favorites and smells good too.

You can't beat the hybiscus here, blooms all summer long, and as you can see, it's gorgeous.

Here's a close up. I love these. Wish they had a scent, but alas, they do not. :(
Please be sure to visit all the participants of this week to see what they have been up to. I thankyou Beverly from How Sweet The Sound for getting us all together each week for the ultimate share experience.

Vintage Spindle Tassel

Oh what to do with a box full of vintage spindles. I had been using them to wrap my laces around, but then another idea came to me. Lets make some tassels.

Beautiful beads (from Linens and Laurel) at the bottom, then lots of gorgeous fringes and ribbons complete the look. I also came across some black boas, I have no idea what I was planning on doing with this, but it looks great here.

I covered the spindle with vintage paper from a book and then decoupauged the outside.

The top has some black eyelash trim along with a satin bow and hanger. I love the look of these, shabby, cottage and romantic all at the same time.

I have many more spindles to use and plan on giving all my blogging buddies a tassel tutorial later in the week. I hope you will enjoy it. If you are interested, this tassel above can be found HERE.

I LOVE FAMILY GET TOGETHERS

My handsome brother, beautiful sister in law and sweet Allie (my grand daughter) together on my mom's porch. We all got together for a bar b que while my bother and wife were here visiting on business. We are so blessed.Yep, that's me taking the picture and of course I get everyone with food in their mouths. This will probably be the last time I get to hold the camera. Sorry, but everyone eats! You see my darling husband, our daughter and our son.
This angel is Jenna, our second grand daughter. She is haveing fun eating strawberries that are almost as big as she!! Just look at those beautiful eyes.
That's right Jenna, that strawberry looks like a meal in and of itself.

This is Jack, kicking back and relaxing. He is our grand son. Life has been good to us.

Here is brother Kyler, happy and content with a belly full of delicous food. Thanks mom.

Sorry Kirstin, I just seem to catch everyone with their mouths full.

I never thought grand children could be such a blessing. They make you laugh, wear you out, make you cry with joy and say the darnest things. What could be better than this??

SLING FREE AT LAST~WELL, ALMOST

Yes my fellow blogger buddies, this is what I have lived in for the past 6 1/2 weeks, even slept in. The only time I was allowed to remove it, was to shower. It's a body sling, my best friend, and my worst enemy. It wrapped around my neck and my back. Enough of that!!!!
I saw the surgeon this morning and was told, I can now take it off. I only need to wear it when I go out. After another week, I don't have to wear it at all. I AM FREE!!
I can also drive, but only in the area and only with the sling on for the next week. Here I come.
I want to thank all of you for the kind gifts, the cards and all the blogger love. I still have physical therapy for the next 6 weeks, (and it hurts) but I am happy, happy, happy.

PINK SATURDAY AND MOTHER'S DAY

Welcome to pink saturday and the celebration of Mother's Day tomorrow. I wanted to showcase this beautiful teacup and saucer that was made into a sweet smelling candle. Francie from The Scented Cottage sent this to me this week. I was taken aback by her generosity and warmth. Please visit her beautiful shop HERE. Francie has the most beautiful things to share.

This candle is jell and scented to order. I happen to love the scent of cinnamon and so that was what was made for me. It's wonderful and relaxing. I love the pattern of the china too.

Look how pretty the spoon and faux lemon are. It's just perfect. THANK YOU SO MUCH FRANCIE.

This is a special weekend for all Mother's because it's Mother's Day. I wanted to showcase my mom who is so special to me. I don't know what I would do without her love and support. This is my beautiful mother when she was very young. Isn't she so pretty??

This is her today, just as beautiful as ever. I love you mom, more than ever!!! Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there. Enjoy your special day with love.
I still have the use of just one arm, and this is a project I finished this week. I was able to list it on my website, someplace in thyme. Although my photos are not the best, (it's hard to do one handed) I think this sweet pillow shows a romantic side of me, not that often seen. I hope you enjoy.

I couldn't resist showing the soft, delicate ruffle. Lots of vintage lace and buttons were used. Maybe the hardest part was sewing the buttons on with one hand.
Thank you Beverly from How Sweet The Sound for all you do for us each week. Happy Pink Saturday to all my blogger buddies. I love your comments.

WE NEVER SAW IT COMING!

THE DAY STARTED OUT PERFECT. THE SUN WAS SHINING, THE TEMPERATURE WAS WARM, IT WAS THE PERFECT SUNDAY......OR AT LEAST WE THOUGHT. UNTIL LATE AFTERNOON AND THE WIND ROARED ITS UGLY HEAD. YEP, IT'S DOWN AND OUT!!!
NOTHING LEFT NOW BUT THE CRYING. THIS WAS A MESQUITE TREE AND SHE WAS BEAUTIFUL. THERE WAS NO SAVING HER. ALL THAT IS LEFT NOW WILL BE THE SOUND OF CHAIN SAWS AND TRUCKS. BOO HOO!!!

THIS IS THE TOP, SO YOU CAN SEE HOW PRETTY SHE WAS. I AM HAPPY TO REPORT THAT I DIDN'T SEE ANY BIRD NESTS YET, SO AT LEAST ONE GOOD THING CAN BE SAID ABOUT THIS SOON TO BE MESS. WE DON'T KNOW WHETHER TO CRY OR GO SHOPPING FOR A NEW TREE.
